Student Services

As one of the largest elementary schools in Marion County, Sunrise serves approximately 1100 Pre-K to 5th grade students. Our population is among the most diverse in the county with a minority population of 78%. Sunrise has 100% of the population rated as economically disadvantaged.

Sunrise is a full inclusion school, where three ESE inclusion teachers serve students across grade levels in the general education class using a co-teaching model. Some ESE students are served in the self-contained classroom. ESE students represent 13.8% of our student population, including 1% being in the Gifted Program. Our English Language Learners (ELL) population represents 11.6% of our population.

TV Broadcast Studio

Our studio televises live announcements each morning. Student recognition is featured. Students operate the entire show with supervision from the media specialist. The crew consists of anchors, camera, sound and video mixer technicians, announcers, and assistants.

School improvement funds are used to provide remedial programs for non-proficient reading students after school. Tutorial programs, through Title I, are offered for non-proficient students as a way to assist them to meet state standards.
